Project Base: Bristol (Hybrid) and Office

Salary/Rate: 12 hours per week @ £10.90 per hour for 38 weeks


About us:

The Rebel With A Cause (TRWAC) CIC is a Bristol-based community interest company with aims to tackle issues - social, education and health within the African and Caribbean communities. A prominent aspect of our service is about educating and raising awareness about the importance of blood, organ and bone marrow donation within the Black and Asian communities.


About the role:

We are seeking a Youth Peer Educator to work with 3 Volunteer Elder Mentors to collate a Festival of Ideas. The purpose of the "Festival of Ideas is to raise awareness and to increase blood and organ donation within the African and Caribbean Communities. This role will build on our previous project - #UjimaKeepTheBeat2 (youth project). This role holder will be expected to engage with BAME volunteers and interact with other youth people in the BAME communities.


The Youth Peer Educator will be expected to address the specific health needs of the BAME communities in relation to increasing blood and organ donation through dialogue, education and lived experiences from middle-aged volunteers and young BAME people aged between 15 and 20 years of age in various community groups.


About the project:

The Keep The Beat, Save a Life project is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund. The project is a continuation of our #UjimaKeepTheBeat youth project, where our previous Arabic speaking adult stakeholders peer educator engaged with young people from Bristol Somali and Sudanese Communities through various community events.


#UjimaKeepTheBeat2 is our second project which has at its core objective raising awareness around blood, organ and stem cell donation in the black community. During this

12-month project, TRWAC CIC and the successful Youth Peer Educator will be working specifically with youth people African, Caribbean, Asian and other Ethnic Communities to raise awareness about the need for blood, organ and blood stem (bone marrow) needs in our communities.


The #UjimaKeepTheBeat (youth project focused on a high level of beneficiary attendance/engagement; the successful Youth Peer Educator will be using this phase of the project to expand and build on the success and impact of the Keep The Beat, Save a Life pilot phase project.



Key Responsibilities

The successful Youth Peer Educator will play an active role and be supervised by the Project lead and receive mentorship from the 3 Volunteers Elder Mentors in achieving the following:-


1. Planning and execution of relevant activities. Duties include designing,monitoring every aspect of the project.


2. Developing detailed activity plans to guide CIC colleagues and revising based on changing needs and requirements


3. Monitoring activity performance to ensure timely delivery.


4. Compiling and submitting project status reports to CIC colleagues, clients and other stakeholders


5. Working effectively with relevant stakeholders such as the 3 Volunteer Elder Mentors for efficient project


6. Developing excellent beneficiary relations and communication skills to liaise effectively with all project stakeholders


7. Play a crucial role in raising awareness about blood and organ donation through a range of methods and outreach initiatives

(including newsletter preparation and distribution).


8. Recruit for the 3 Volunteer Elder Mentors by using your networks/connections.


Reporting to:

The successful Youth Peer Educator will report to the Project Lead. Our Project Lead oversees the project management, ensuring KPIs

and budget adherence while addressing possible issues.



Candidate requirements:


  • Knowledge of computer software such as excel, word, PowerPoint

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent organisational skills

  • The ability to work well in a group setting

  • Thorough attention to detail

  • Empathy and situational awareness

  • Self-motivated

  • Experience/interest in working with a wide range of stakeholders (Youth and Older members of the community)
